Our Alcatel One Touch S’Pop review will give you an insight into this entry level Android smartphone from the French manufacturers. This is a mobile phone that is ideal for those on a budget who would still like to partake in the smartphone experience.
3.5 inch Touchscreen
The Alcatel S Pop sports a 3.5 inch HVGA LCD touchscreen which in fact is the same size as the Apple iPhone 4, with a 480 x 320 resolution powered by a very responsive 1GHz processor and 512gb of RAM memory which is more than ample power for this handset. There is no sign of the lag often associated with handsets at the lower end of the price spectrum.
A 3.2 megapixel camera is included and we have always found Alcatel’s inbuilt shooters to be of a better quality than we have a right to expect for the price and the One Touch S’Pop doesn’t let us down. A forward facing VGA video calling camera is also included which is impressive at this price point.
It is easy to link up to most things in most places with Wi-Fi, 4-band 3G, USB connectivity, and the latest, fastest version of stereo Bluetooth (version 4.0). GPS for satellite navigation and geotagging are all here. Unusually welcome at this price level though is NFC for contactless payments, completing a very strong connectivity suite.
Internal memory is just 2gb which is to be expected on a budget handset but a microSD card slot will accept memory cards right up to 32gb so you will not be wanting for storage with an added memory card and they are now as cheap as chips, if you will excuse the pun!
This handset isn’t going to take on the iPhone or Samsung Galaxy S4 of course. However if you are looking for your first smartphone or you simply want a decent bit of kit without having to break the bank then the Alcatel One Touch S’Pop is a very likeable and impressive effort from Alcatel. It makes for a good introduction to the smartphone world and, internal storage aside, has a very decent feature set for the asking price
