SONY XPERIA Z FULL REVIEW
Our Sony Xperia Z review gave us the opportunity we had been waiting for to take look at this smartphone and we can sum it up in one word - stunning. That's the initial impression we got when we first saw the Sony Xperia Z. First impressions count of course but does it live up to the hype? Well we are happy to say that it does. This outstanding flagship smartphone from Sony is simply breathtaking.
As soon as you pick up the smartphone you get an immediate idea of the quality you can expect before you even switch the phone on. Both the front and back are made of tempered glass from edge to edge inside a slim 7.9mm frame of glass fibre polyamide which is both waterproof and dust resistant to IP55 and IP57. Incredibly this means you can spray the phone with water jets and even immerse it in a meter of water for up to 30 minutes
"WORLD'S SHARPEST 5 INCH SCREEN" - Sony
"The world's sharpest 5 inch screen" is how Sony describe the display and you will find it impossible to disagree. Using Bravia Engine 2 technology straight from Sony's outstanding range of televisions the crystal clear and bright screen is quite simply astonishing. The 1080 x 1920 HD Reality display also sports 443 pixels per inch (PPI) and the widest colour spectrum giving you crisp, sharp and vivid pictures and video.
For good photographs you need a good camera of course and the Sony Xperia Z doesn't disappoint here either. The 13 megapixel camera features Exmor RS for mobile which is the world's first image sensor with HDR (High Dynamic range) which is an amazing technology which captures the same image at different exposure levels then automatically optimises them to give you pin-sharp photos, even in high contrast situations.
Superior Auto mode means your photos are automatically optimism using the HDR sensor and noise reduction with 36 different scene modes which are also selected automatically to produce perfect shots. Even night time shots are crystal clear and sharp and because Sony uses the same technology as it uses in it's outstanding cameras quality is guaranteed.
There are also full manual controls, a panoramic mode, a Burst mode which takes 10 frame per second continuously for a montage of action shots and you can even take pictures in video mode. GPS means you can tag your pictures and videos with your location. All you need to do is just point and shoot - then upload them online to view on any computer, tablet or Sony Smart TV.
Video mode offers full 1080p HD video recording and playback with image stabilisation.
NFC is included, often advertised as a feature you would use for contactless payments but it can also be used for sharing files, music and photos between other NFC-equipped devices simply by touching them together. Programmable Smart Tags allow you to turn off the ringer, connect to a Bluetooth device, open the music player or anything else you wish to program with just one touch.
DLNA means you can "throw" your music wirelessly to a Wi-Fi enabled TV or tablet instantly, so you can seamlessly switch your viewing or listening from small screen to big screen.
HD Voice improves call clarity by eliminating background noise using an additional microphone so you can enjoy clear, sharp conversation even in noisy places.
The Sony Xperia Z also has LTE-4G built in so with a suitable contract you can enjoy superfast broadband speeds at up to 10 times faster than 3G. The Snapdragon Pro quad core processor and separate Adreno 320 graphics processing unit are more than capable of handling these outstanding speeds and also ensure that you can enjoy advanced gaming with no lag or stutter. The phone also operates on 2G and 3G signals.
GPS is also included and features aGPS for fast location of satellites. Perfect for satellite navigation and geotagging, which allows you to add your location to your photos and videos.
Overall the Sony Xperia Z is an outstanding android smartphone with a plethora of stunning features that were unimaginable just a few years ago and Sony have definitely raised the bar with their flagship model. An absolutely outstanding smartphone which we have no hesitation in recommending.
