So does it live up to the hype? Well those of you who are upgrading from the Galaxy S3 will have noticed it doesn't look that different, in fact it is pretty much the same size throughout.
Remarkably Samsung have actually managed to shunt a larger screen into a slightly smaller casing this time around.
5 inch full HD screen
The new larger screen which has now been ramped up to a full 5-inch display with full HD resolution, is immediately obvious.
What puts the Samsung Galaxy S4 in top spot as far as the screen goes is the stunning Super AMOLED HD display, all in a package weighing under 130g and less than 8mm thick. It's an astonishing achievement by Samsung
You will instantly realise how solid the case feels too and it now sports a metallic 'waistband' which improves the look and feel, build quality having been considerably improved though some of you will still bemoan the thin plastic battery cover and overall plastic construction.
But it is more rigid and this now looks and feels much more like a premium product and it's curved construction makes it easy for you to grip.
On the inside you will appreciate the much more powerful processor, which makes your surfing life a pleasure and watching video is an absolute delight. This makes the phone superfast to use, and includes a super-responsive 13 megapixel camera with an illuminated sensor for crisp, sharp images.
The dual-shot feature, which uses front and rear camera together, allows you to superimpose your picture onto the main photo you are taking for a unique shot.
Free Dropbox storage
Gratefully Samsung has recognised that many of us still prefer a memory card slot and the S4 accepts Micro SD memory cards up to 64GB in size, though you do have to remove the battery cover to access it. However Samsung do include 2 years' free storage with Dropbox, including a massive 50GB storage.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 will also backup your photos automatically via Wi-Fi.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 is packed with features, including Group Play which allows you to link up with other S4 users and share music and video at the same time. S Health helps you to improve your fitness while S Translate can translate speech or text into a number of different languages.
There's even a built-in tracking device which allows you to track the phone via the internet if it is stolen or simply misplaced.
An array of sensors have been added by Samsung, which allows you to simply hover a finger over the screen instead of touching it, while eye tracking can control certain features, even scrolling web pages simply by tracking your eye movement!
Connectivity abounds, with 3G and 4G LTE. Stereo Bluetooth 4.0 is also featured which is perfect for listening to your music via a cordless Bluetooth headset.
Near Field Communication (NFC), Wi-Fi, GPS, and even infra red to control your TV and satellite box also feature. USB connectivity is of course included as always.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 includes the latest incarnation of the Android operating system, version 4.2.2. which they have customised with their renowned TouchWiz interface which is present on all Samsung's android offerings, though it does eat into available memory space more than other manufacturers android tweaks.
All in all Samsung have put together a winning package for you here which will absolutely delight Samsung fans and those new to the Korean brand too, and this is a handset we can definitely recommend.
